Becoming a PAACS resident
Candidates must meet all of the
following qualifications:
- You must be a citizen of an African country.
- You must be a graduate of a recognized medical program and completed an
internship program.
- You must be a sincere follower of Jesus Christ as evidenced by your
words, your actions and your lifestyle.
- Preference will be given to applicants under age 35.
- Two recommendations are required. One will be from your pastor or
lay leader of your local
church and one must be from a Christian doctor who knows you well and has worked with
you.
- You must be sponsored by a church, mission or organization that is
capable of providing financial support (including travel and moving
expenses) for each year of training, since the training centers provide
furnished housing for the resident and his immediate family, free health
care, and learning materials. Some scholarship funds may be available from
PAACS for monthly stipends, but not moving expenses.
- For each year of residency, you agree to work one year of paid service
with a suitable mission hospital.
- Prior to acceptance, a candidate must be fluent in English.

Note: The deadline for submitting a completed application
(including all required forms) is February 1st. Applicants will
not be notified of acceptance prior to March 15th. Candidates who are
accepted into a program will be notified and required to report to that
program by the following August 1st.
